The event’s location is the Horizon Air Ops Facility at 8070 NE Airtrans Way, Portland, OR 97218, but again, registration is required.

Mission to Mars

This is an Odyssey Middle School event.  From Kerin Motsinger:
We are looking for Mentors! Mentors would interact informally with different small groups of students, asking about their plans and helping them consider modifications to their Mars settlement design based on the mentor’s experiences. We would like the volunteers to share how their job/career/hobby impacts the quality of life for people on Earth and how that should translate to a settlement of humans on Mars.  Any knowledge you have is welcome as students can utilize many different perspectives to improve their ideas for life on Mars. These opportunities all take place at Odyssey Middle School (a Zoom meeting can also be set up) from 1:30 and 2:15 PST on the following days: 5/2, 5/6, 5/9, 5/14, 5/17, 5/20 and 5/23.  Up to 5 mentors per day are requested.

If you’re interested, please sign up here!  If you have any questions, please email Kerin at Kerin.Motsinger@camas.wednet.edu

Oregon Airshow

We will be assisting Airway Science for Kids at the Oregon Airshow!  On Friday the 11th from 9am until 2pm, about which Race City WAI VP Julia Cannell describes as “the STEM event where thousands of children descend upon the event”, and on both Saturday and Sunday.  Most people take 4-hours shifts so that there’s time to go enjoy the show!  Please e-mail Brandon Lenk at Blenk@airsci.org.

Honor the WASP tour

Join us as we lay flowers at the nine WASP buried in our area, and remember them. This tour to each location will be led by a WASP-enthusiast, and this is a great chance to learn who the WASP were, how they broke ground for women in aviation, the challenges they face, and to learn more about these nine women. Children are welcome on this tour. Due to how busy traffic is at two of the locations, carpooling will be idea. More information is here: Honor the WASP
